CHDM is commonly produced from DMT through a two-step hydrogenation route, and CHDM in turn is a key comonomer for PETG. Feedstock quality therefore propagates directly into hydrogenation performance and final copolyester quality.
Catalyst-sensitive traces dominate the risk: sulfur- and chlorine-containing species, metals and ash. These act as catalyst poisons, so limits should be aligned with your catalyst system and confirmed on representative batch data rather than typical values.
